Career Impact Workshops: How to Build a Career that Really Makes a Difference

Probably Good offers interactive workshops to help people find careers that are good for them and good for the world.

These sessions combine engaging discussion, practical tools, and research-backed guidance to support participants at different stages of their career and impact journey.

The workshops are completely free. They generally take place online, though we can offer them in person in some cases.

The workshops

We currently offer three distinct workshops, each tailored to people at different points in their career planning and impact thinking. Not sure which is the right fit? We’re happy to help you decide!

An introduction to jobs that (really) make a difference

This introductory workshop explores how the right career choice can multiply your ability to do good. Participants learn about some of the most promising causes and career paths identified through Probably Good’s research, with insights drawn from case studies, literature, and expert interviews.

The session introduces tools for identifying impactful opportunities and emphasizes how personal fit shapes long-term success. Group discussion helps participants reflect on their goals and next steps.

During the workshop, we’ll emphasize the surprisingly large difference between how much positive impact different careers can have. We’ll also explore how using analytical reasoning to identify a higher-impact career could enable people to help others at a truly impressive scale—and hopefully feel fulfilled along the way.

Best suited for: People who are new to Probably Good’s approach to career advice and may not have much experience using analytical tools to think about their career. While especially relevant for students and early-career professionals, the workshop is also valuable for mid-career participants who are unfamiliar with this way of thinking about career impact.

Finding a role that’s good for you and good for the world

Deciding on a career is tricky, especially when it seems like there are multiple compelling options. In this workshop, participants are introduced to Probably Good’s SELF Framework — a practical tool to help compare specific roles based on Significance, Efficacy, Leverage, and Fit.

Using this framework, participants will reflect on decisions they’re facing and have the opportunity to discuss their decisions with others.

By the end of the workshop, participants should feel better equipped to compare their options and identify concrete next steps toward finding a career that’s both fulfilling and highly impactful.

Best suited for: People already familiar with either Probably Good’s content or analytical tools for assessing career impact. It is relevant to people in all career stages, and especially those considering a career change in the near future.

How to (actually) get a job that makes a difference

Based on our How to Get a Job Guide, this workshop focuses on the practical aspects of applying to high-impact roles. It covers how to identify opportunities, write strong applications, and navigate a sometimes messy job search process — all while staying oriented toward doing good.

The session includes discussion, concrete examples, and step-by-step guidance drawn from research and experience.

Best suited for: People who are actively searching for high-impact jobs and already have a sense of what kinds of roles they’re aiming for. This includes early-career and mid-career professionals, as well as those already familiar with analytical approaches to impact.
